It says I am a Reformed Evangelical

You scored as Reformed Evangelical. You are a Reformed Evangelical. You take the Bible very seriously because it is God's Word. You most likely hold to TULIP and are sceptical about the possibilities of universal atonement or resistible grace. The most important thing the Church can do is make sure people hear how they can go to heaven when they die.

What. The. Heck. Was. He. Thinking.

So I've been thinking of a new moniker. How does Dookie Butt sound?

I guess my question was: Did he stab the guy because he called him a dookie butt? I wonder if he will introduce himself as dookie butt when he gets to jail. I just can?t help but thinking it might be a good idea to come up with a new nickname if he wants to seem credible while in prison.

Shirley Miller Wildflower Trail

This is a post I have been trying to post for two weeks but I have been too busy to put it up. I did not have time to caption all the pictures, so I will have to do that later. We had a great time on this little day trip. If you are in North Georgia and have an hour or two to burn then the Shirley Miller Wildflower Trail is worth going to. Here is a link to the pictures and some info (1 ,2).

Am I Complicit?

office-politics.gif

I have been thinking a bit lately about how far I need to be removed from a crime before I am complicit. Is this a fair statement?
Abortion kills babies. Starbucks supports a party who believes killing the unborn is okay. I give Starbucks money from time to time so that I can drink their coffee. They give my money to a party who supports the right to kill babies. Am I complicit in the crime?

If so, do I need to apply this logic to oil, banana farms in South America, and the African diamond trade?

Hat Tip: Yoest for the party contribution graph.

Update: I just noticed that the google ad appearing at the bottom of this post is for Starbucks. Does that make me even more complicit? Maybe I should just ask everyone not to buy the Starbucks gift card they are trying to sell. Or, maybe I should just go buy a cup of Starbucks coffee and not think about it anymore. What a quandary!

Do you live in Hamilton County?

If so, here are some useful links.

Here is a link to find out what district you live in, and to find out who is your current County Commissioner.

Here is a really good link to find out who is running.

The two main(local) issues for me this go-around is in their stance on taxes in general, and in relation to public schools and their stance (pro\con) on Hamilton County emissions testing.

By far my biggest issue is the emission testing tax. Between the emission test and all the repairs I had to make, I spent at least $300 last year. I wish I lived in District 2 where Dumas is running because he would get my vote.

If anyone knows how the candidates for District 3 stand on the emissions testing issue I would love to know. I asked Joe Public over at TennesseeTicket if he knew anything, and he said no. But he did say he would look into it.

I will let you know if I find anything out. If I don't find out something soon, then I'm going to start making some phone calls to the three candidates in the running for District 3. Well, I might just call them anyway. :-)

Dumas the blogger

Dumas has a blog called The Taxpayer's Best Friend. It's a campaign blog but none the less he is blogging. Who would have thunk it?

documenting the event

At the end of the fishing trip I tried to get a picture to document the event. After a few failed attempts I patted my cheek and told John David to touch his cheek to mine. So what does he do? He puts his hand on his cheek and throws the rock anyway. Talk about stream of consciousness.

This sign is just plan weird. Who knew there was such a market here in ole' Chattanooga. It makes me wonder what kind of vision someone had in life to open such a store. I saw this sign on the side of a building at 114 West Main Street,

becoming a man

This weekend John David and I went on our first fishing trip. It was only for a few hours, but it was a lot of fun. I've looked forward to the day when we could go fishing together since before he was born. I never really thought that you could bring a three year old fishing, but after reading Dimly Lit's blog post last year I decided to give it a try. It went surprisingly very well.

Besides the fun of being with him as he reeled in is first three fish and getting to spend a few hours together with it being just the two of us, I was struck by the importance of these man building exercises.

When we got out of the car at the lake I realized John David was not going to be able to carry anything down to the lake because we had to climb down a bunch of rocks, and he was going to need both hands to climb. So, I grabbed the two chairs, two poles, worms, and snacks and we headed down to the lake. I climb down the rocks first so that I could set everything down and then come back for him. By the time I got back he was yelling for me to help him down the rocks. I stretched out my hand for him to grab, but he was too scared to grab on. I ended up climbing part way up the rocks and scooped him up and set him on solid ground.

It was during that ten second incident that I realized the importance of my job over the next 18 years. That right now he is at the beginning of his journey and at his weakest point, and it is my job to build him up and to instill in him that he has what it takes to be a man. No, not to roughly push him into manhood, but instead to lovingly and consistently show him that he already has what it takes.

Earl

My two favorite shows are The Office and My Name is Earl. They are the only thing on network t.v. that I am watching these days. Leslie and I missed the first season of the office and we just got through watching in through Netflix. It was very funny. If have not seen it yet then make sure you put it in your queue.

Here are some funny April Fool clips from some of the characters in the office.
