abortion
You Might not want to read this article I link to! No really. You really might not want to read it!I have never been sure if an abortion would be okay if the mother?s life was at risk. I have the feeling that it should be okay and this article does not change my uncertainty. What this article does do is show me that abortion is a violent, Nazistic, and sadistic practice that really has no place in any society. In all cases, even in the case of the life of a mother being at risk there is a large aspect of playing GOD in abortion. I just hate it, and may God have mercy on this planet.
I really do mean it.
Oh yea, I am heading out of town for the next couple of days, so I wont be posting for a little while.

aborting my marriage
Salon.com had an article that is worth the read (I think). I?m not total sure what my feelings were after reading it. I think I was just left with the impression of how sad and wrong life can go and to think that for a lot of people they just have no hope.Oh yea, you have to watch a little commercial to read the article, but it is worth it.
Also, I am probably not the only one following this story but it really makes me angry, especially after reading the artical on aborting my marriage. If you are not familiar with the Women on Waves ship then you might want to read up on it. Here are some links about it:

great hackers
This is just a great article! It has to be the best article I have read in many many months. So much so that I almost wet myself because I didn?t want to leave my cube until I finished it. I also forgot to eat my lunch and now I am really hungry. The article is by Paul Graham and is titled Great Hackers. I found this article while reading external monolog. I would give external monolog a trackback but I guess he is not using them.If you?re a programmer this article is a must read.

new to the blog roll
Duffy has a new blog. Check it out if you have a chance. He had a good post on confession that is worth reading.been busy
Last night my team had an outing to the Chattanooga Lookouts game. It was far more fun than I expected it to be. The weather was perfect and the stands were empty. It was nice because we were in the companies Box seats and we were able to bring our families. One of my team mates brought his little girl (15 months old), so she and John David ran around the Box for a few hours. John David had a great time but started getting cranky around 9:00 so we left in during the 8th inning.I have been so busy that I have had no time to post. I have thought about it, but have been to busy to get my thoughts down.
things on my list:
- two projects at work, which have required a lot of thought
- a little side project that is taking up 10 or more hours a week
- the olimpics :)
- sell my house
Jason ( 1 2 ) loaned me Pirates of the Caribbean a few nights ago, and it was really a good movie. It was much better than I thought it would be.

we were so poor
Alright, this post is deviating from were I had planned for it to go, but I guess that is ok.
First, this morning I remembered about the Monty Python skit "We were poor". I first read this when I was going to Chattanooga State. I think I was suppose to be doing a research paper on something, and as is always the case with the internet one thing lead to another and before I new it I as reading this skit. I remember sitting in the computer lab trying not to laugh, which didn't work because I had people in the lab looking at me like I was on something as I broke out into uncontrollable laughter.
I decided to print the skit so I could share it with Adam James who was taking an Accounting II class with me during a summer semester. I decided I should wait until the class had really gotten under way before handing it to him for him to read. It was really a mean thing for me to do, but I could not help myself. Before to long Adam was snorting, while trying to control his laughter. He had to make a quick exit from class before he totally lost it. As I remember it he came back to class after a few minutes and for some reason tried to continue reading it again, which was less successful then the first time.
Second, I was exporting my bookmark for the first time from FoxFire (very cool). After the export I decided to look at there syntax and notice they were using the <DD>, <DL>, and <DT> tags, which I new nothing about. I ended up at the W3.org site trying to figure out what they were used for, and it just so happened that the example of a way to use these tags was:
- MP:
- Aye. In them days, we'd a' been glad to have the price of a cup o' tea.
- GC:
- A cup ' COLD tea.
- EI:
- Without milk or sugar.
- TG:
- OR tea!
- MP:
- In a filthy, cracked cup.
- EI:
- We never used to have a cup. We used to have to drink out of a rolled up newspaper.
- GC:
- The best WE could manage was to suck on a piece of damp cloth.
- TG:
- But you know, we were happy in those days, though we were poor.
- MP:
- Aye. BECAUSE we were poor. My old Dad used to say to me, "Money doesn't buy you happiness."
It seems strange that the <DT> and <DD> tags aren't suppose to be closed. I would have thought that the W3 would have recommended that just to be XML compliant. From the docs it only looks like the <DL> should be closed. I also don't know if I like that the <DD> tag forces a line break. What if you wanted the author and the author text to be on the same line? I guess they did that so you would not need the <br> tag.

a bit of an update
I would like to do a long post but I am busy. Let me just hit the highlights:- We had our kind of yearly (immediate) family reunion in North Carolina this past weekend. There was a good time had by all. My parents rented a cabin. It was a bit cramped but the hot tub, pond, and view made up for what was lacking in space.
- Leslie, John David and myself went to Boon and Blowing rock for two days after the reunion was over. We had never been to Blowing rock before, and we will be back.
- Our house is up for sale, and we had a very promising hit last night. Fingers crossed.
- We have added several new links to the web page. The one I am most excited about is that Leslie has started a blog.
-
Here are some links in no particular order:
- leslie?s blog
- miscellaneous pictures of John David months 14 to 17
- Spring trip to Gatlinburg and Obergatlinburg (2004):
- Outing to Lake Winnepesaukah (2004):
I guess that just about covers it for now.
