Quote of the Day
All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom; justice; honor; duty; mercy; hope.

Soldier from Hixson Killed in Iraq
From: News Channel 9
A family from Hixson, Tennessee is mourning the loss of their only son. Sergeant John Michael Sullivan of the Army's 2nd Infantry division died when his humvee was struck by a roadside bomb on Saturday. He died instantly. The 2003 Soddy Daisy High School graduate was just days away from returning home from his second tour of duty in Iraq. He was scheduled to arrive on January 10th to see his son, who was born just hours after he died. His family tells us Sullivan volunteered for the patrol that claimed his life when a fellow-soldier got sick. John Michael's mother, Debbie Sullivan, describes her son as a good man who had a heart of gold. She says for John Michael, family always came first. Debbie says during her son's first tour in Iraq, he was hurt when a roadside bomb hit his truck.

My babysitter told me about this today; she kept him for years when he was a little boy. I can't imagine how I'd feel if my husband never got to meet our child.
Posted by: C.Davis at January 4, 2007 11:57 PMI can't either. What a sad story. I really feel sorry for the mother. Rearing a child with two parents in the home is hard enough. I can't imagine how hard it would be going it in alone. I wonder if there is contact info for donations?
Posted by: gid at January 5, 2007 09:35 AMActually, the sitter did mention that there was a way to make donations, but she didn't know details. If you were interested you could probably contact the funeral home (Williamson & Sons).
