Leslie was too into a contraction
to realize that I took this picture.
A new little gid entered the world at 11:51 last night.
The whole labor was much different this time. The contractions started getting very regular last night after five o?clock and by 8:45 I realized that Leslie was getting serious. By 9:30 I new we had to get to the hospital. I felt like she was going to start pushing if we did not get a move on. At 10:00 we were in the car headed for the hospital. On the way there I kept thinking of our Bradley instructor Stephanie?s story about having the baby in the car at the hospital. Luckily that did not happen. We got to the hospital at around 10:30 and found out that she was already 8 centimeters. Leslie and I both breathed a big sigh of relief because with John David we went to the hospital after 10 hours of labor only to be sent home because she was only 2 centimeters.
Well, by the time they got Leslie to the room and I ran down to the car to get her night gown it was close to 11:00, and at 11:51 it was all over with. When Leslie finally started pushing it only took three pushes for Elliot James Gidcumb to be born.
Here are a few stats:
Name: Elliot James
Weight: 8 lbs 5 oz
Birth Date: 12-18-04
Birth Time: 11:51 pm
Length: 20.5 inches
Leslie?s mom had to leave this morning so I am home with John David letting him get a nap. Once he is up we will head back down to the hospital.
It is a very nice day. I am looking out my office window at the snow coming down. It is just flurries but beautiful none the less. I tried to get some pictures but it was coming down so fast that the small flakes did not show up.
Posted by gid at December 19, 2004 03:50 PMCongratulations!!!! I am very happy for you and your wife. Glad to hear everything is wonderful. I look forward to hearing the complete story next year. Enjoy the holiday with your new enlarged family!
Posted by: Ben at December 19, 2004 09:41 PMThanks Ben. I hope to have some more pictures up soon. Though, it just hit Leslie and myself today that our lives our going to be a lot different.
Posted by: gid at December 19, 2004 10:01 PMWow! That is awesome! What an incredible Christmas gift! Congratulations to you all. You are blessed!
Posted by: foomonkey at December 20, 2004 07:10 AMCongrats David! (subtitle - it's about time!)
Merry Christmas - God Bless!
Wow, another Gid! You're taking that whole "be fruitful and multiply" command to heart, huh? Seriously though, congratulations! I'll pray that God guides you and gives you wisdom as the Gidcumb clan continues to grow!
Posted by: aduff at December 20, 2004 03:53 PMWow! what a trooper. Leslie, you are the one. Amazing that you stayed at home so long, but it was great not to be in the hospital for a long labor.
David, know that you were glad that you did not have to deliver the baby in the car. Can you imagine that?
Can't wait to see some "upfront" pictures of Elliot. Look forward to seeing them when you have time to put them on the web.
Also, wonder how John David is taking his new bundle.
Love you,
Mom and Dad Gidcumb
Wow! Rejoicing with you!
Boys are fun, huh? *grin*
Posted by: TulipGirl at December 22, 2004 02:47 PMCongratulations on the birth of Elliot! He has a great Birthday; the same as our David's.
Can't wait to see more pictures.
OH, Congrats to the proud grand-parents on each side.
What a wonderful Christmas gift.
